TOOLFEST 2017

by The Foundry

Megan McNally

As a woman in woodworking, I can appreciate the existence of a safe, encouraging space that helps individuals explore what they like to do no matter what gender, age, etc. That's why The Foundry is so important to me and why I'm asking you to help me raise enough money to purchase a set of M3D Printers to get more girls engaged in tech careers!

The Foundry is a business incubator and creative space that I co-founded in 2013. It has since grown to house 35 businesses and offers hands-on education to hundreds of youth annually.

All classes require multiple sets of tools, so ToolFest is a tool drive and fundraiser that supports The Foundry's shared makerspaces. The tools from from the event will be used for hands-on education, to support small businesses and for all to enjoy. Last year The Foundry received CNC routers from National Grid and ventilation equipment from J.W. Danforth Company!

Help us get cool new tools by making a donation on my fundraising page. Together we
can achieve our mission to empower individuals through education and entrepreneurship!

Providing tool access to fledgling businesses is vital for reducing barriers for start-ups, and using the tools to teach is important in helping low-income students pursue living wage career opportunities in trades and advanced manufacturing.

The Foundry currently has a woodshop, tech shop, textile studio, metalshop and are in need of tools, supplies and funding to create a fully equipped and safe makerspace which both our professionals and students can use! Please make a donation to help us purchase more tools and provide programming!
