I began as The Foundry's new Education Director this past summer. The Foundry is a business incubation and education space that fosters creativity, innovation, and community. We help creative entrepreneurs and students on Buffalo's East Side to grow and thrive.

The Foundry provides amazing spaces for informal learning. There are two very active shops here for working with Metal and Wood. We're working to expand our member base and the courses we offer in our Technology and Textile Labs. ToolFest is the annual fundraiser for these four shared makerspaces. This year National Grid has committed to donating a Ultimaker III 3D Printer. I'm asking my network to help purchase a Digital Knitting Machine for our students, members and resident businesses.

After so many years in Higher Education, it seems a long time since I've been a part of an organization that requires community assistance. I'm so happy that I have made this move - I believe strongly in the mission of The Foundry. Your contribution will enable us to purchase an amazing new technology and assist in helping us to achieve our mission to increase neighborhood prosperity by empowering individuals through education and entrepreneurship! Providing tool access to fledgling businesses is vital for reducing barriers for start-ups, and using the tools to teach is important in helping low-income students pursue living wage career opportunities in trades and advanced manufacturing.

The Foundry currently has a woodshop, tech shop, textile studio, metalshop and are in need of tools, supplies and funding to create a fully equipped and safe makerspace which both our professionals and students can use! Please make a donation to help us purchase more tools and provide programming!
