TOOLFEST 2017
by The Foundry
Sarah Campbell
The Foundry is hosting their second annual ToolFest and I'm volunteering by helping them raise funds. The Foundry is a business incubator and education space that fosters creativity, innovation, and a great sense of community; it helps to grow small businesses and youth in incredible ways. Additionally, anyone can take classes taught by their businesses such as woodworking, metalworking, upholstery, and glassblowing!
ToolFest is a tool drive and fundraiser that supports The Foundry's shared makerspaces. The tools from from the event will be used for hands-on programs for youth, to support small businesses and for everyone to enjoy. Last year The Foundry received CNC routers from National Grid, ventilation equipment from J.W. Danforth Company, grinders, clamps and more! This year, National Grid has committed to donating a Ultimaker III 3D Printer.
This year, The shared Textile space here is in much need for an industrial sewing machine which will be used by businesses and for community classes.
Help get our fundraising efforts started by making a donation on my fundraising page and encouraging your friends to match your donation. Together we can achieve our mission of increasing neighborhood prosperity by empowering individuals through education and entrepreneurship!
The Foundry currently has a woodshop, tech shop, textile studio, metalshop and are in need of tools, supplies and funding to create a fully equipped and safe makerspace which both our professionals and students can use! Please make a donation to help us purchase more tools and provide programming!
